YUKIKOMIZUTANI is pleased to present Seiji Matsumoto Solo Exhibition: EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, on view from Saturday, August 1 to Sunday, August 30, 2026. Marking Matsumoto’s third solo exhibition at YUKIKOMIZUTANI, the exhibition features a new body of paintings and drawings, alongside a new video work created in collaboration with creators Rich & Miyu. The film interweaves scenes from Matsumoto’s studio with the imaginative world of his artworks, creating a new visual experience where reality and fiction intersect. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT “EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT” expresses the idea that each of us is unique. Differences in appearance, ways of thinking, and the environments in which we grow up all give rise to both beauty and inner conflict. In an age where social media makes it easy to compare ourselves with others, this exhibition reflects on the importance of turning our attention inward and reconnecting with who we are. Inspired by emotions and landscapes born from life surrounded by nature, these works invite viewers to embrace their own individuality. Created with a focus on the present moment—without being constrained by the past or anxious about the future—the exhibition reveals a new dimension of Seiji Matsumoto’s artistic vision. — Seiji Matsumoto 【Hours】12:00 - 18:00 【Closed】on Mondays,Tuesdays and Public Holidays |

Goyo Gallery is pleased to present Yasuhito Yuhara’s solo exhibition Aug 12 (Wed) to Aug 29 (Sat), 2026, his first in Japan in approximately three years. The forms that emerged through the artist’s engagement with clay and his search for shape resemble living creatures, while at the same time evoking the lingering presence of someone once known. They seem to have names, yet remain unnamed. They feel like distant memories, yet quietly exist here in the present. These works gently awaken memories and sensations that existed before language, things we have gradually forgotten over time. Through both sculpture and painting, this exhibition invites viewers into a new world envisioned by Yasuhito Yuhara. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 【Closed】on Mondays/ Last Day 12:00 – 17:00 |

Radiant and Revealed (明歴々露堂々) Goyo Gallery is pleased to present “Radiant and Revealed”, a group exhibition showcasing a new generation of emerging artists, on view from August 12 (Wed) to August 29 (Sat), 2026. The Zen expression “Meirekireki Rododo” (明歴々露堂々) conveys the idea that truth is already fully revealed, shining openly for all to see. Rather than “discovering” new talent, this exhibition presents artistic voices as something that already exists, fully present and waiting only to be encountered. As a primary gallery, we believe our role is not to assign meaning to artists or their work, but to provide a platform where artists can express their individuality without fear. The works on view not only suggest the future of contemporary art but also stand before us as complete and compelling presences in the present. Visitors will encounter the brilliance of these young voices, expressions that are neither hidden nor restrained, and experience the clarity and confidence with which they engage the world. The exhibition also features a special collaborative project between Takuto Kadokura, a painter who previously worked as a pattern maker for Comme des Garçons, and PROT, the designer behind PROLETA RE ART, known for restoring and reconstructing vintage garments and worn textiles into contemporary fashion pieces. This marks the first collaboration between these two accomplished creators, who share the same alma mater. Curated by Takuto Kadokura, the exhibition brings together works by Hinako Suda, Maya Nukimizu, and eight additional artists, presenting ten emerging voices in total. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 / Last Day 12:00 – 17:00 【Opening Reception】8/11(Tue.) 15:00 – 18:00 【Closed】on Mondays |

We are pleased to announce that, starting Saturday, July 18, we will host "A Meaningful Life," a solo exhibition by US-based artist Yuya Kurata—his first in Japan in four years. 「A Meaningful Life」 Leaving my long-time home has given me a chance to reconsider what quality of life really means. Spending time with a friend in the country, or discovering pockets of nature in the city, taught me that your surroundings don't automatically change your well-being. "A grand life" means different things to everyone, but my hope is to focus on discovering the small, personal pleasures in my own everyday routine. We at ANOMALY are pleased to announce the forthcoming exhibition「DRAWING A NOVEL WITH VOCAL CORDS!!! AI MASAYA NAKAHARA|THE BEEGGIINNIINNGG , by Naohiro Ukawa & DOMMUNE. This will be a limited three-day exhibition beginning on August 21, the first weekend after the summer holiday season. Nakahara Masaya has been a friend of Ukawa for about 35 years, and is also known as a film critic, an author who has won the Mishima Yukio Prize, and even a musician. About three years ago, he was rushed to the hospital after he suffered a cerebral infarction brought on by complications from diabetes. He spent the next six months in rehabilitation, but the left side of his body remained paralyzed, and is vision also seriously worsened. At present, he is convalescing at his home while receiving care around the clock. For Nakahara, who had constantly been active in a wide range of fields including authorship of novels, film criticism, and music, the decline in his physical functions and vision caused a great change in his productive activities as compared to before the attack. Today as well, he is staying active, appearing as a guest in live performances playing electronic instruments with support and in talk events, for example. In light of this situation, Ukawa conceived a new project aimed at exploring the possibilities of creation together with Nakahara, with whom he has cultivated a friendship over so many years. MU GALLERY is pleased to present "KODO," a solo exhibition by Ryohei Yamashita, running from Saturday, July 18, to Saturday, August 22. Yamashita, an artist who has consistently explored the visualization of "energy" within the contemporary art scene, brings this exhibition to MU GALLERY in Tennozu. The exhibition features approximately 20 works created using oil and acrylic paints. Centered on the philosophy of "Energism"—a concept championed by the artist—the works capture traces of invisible energy through color, fluidity, and a sense of physicality. The title "KODO" (meaning "heartbeat" or "pulse") encompasses not only the physical heartbeat but also the rhythms flowing within cities, crowds, festivals, memories, and the human spirit. This exhibition offers an experience that goes beyond mere visual observation. Visitors are invited to pause before the artworks—sometimes closing their eyes—and tune in to their own inner sensations. The exhibition aims to create a space where one can physically sense the "vibration of existence" through the medium of painting. We invite you to come and feel your own "KODO" at the venue. 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sun, Mon |

Tokyo International Gallery (Shinagawa–Tennoz, Tokyo) is pleased to announce “AUN: The Fleeting on Mind”, a group exhibition by Banri Takada and Yuuta Takada, on view from Saturday, July 4 to Saturday, August 8, 2026, as part of an ongoing project “AUN.” “AUN” started in 2022 as an ongoing project that seeks to rethink the “exhibition” through the flat collaboration of its players. Now in its second iteration, the project relaunches with an expanded vision — expanding its original concept of the flat collaboration between the players beyond a single exhibition to the art world at large— with the aim of serving as a point of entry into the art world for emerging artists. This exhibition focuses on Banri Takada and Yuuta Takada, twin artists whose work is inspired by scenes that have left an impression on them in daily life. What is expressed in their work, however, is less the objective appearance of a scene than the subjective experience of encountering it. Even when looking at the same scene, the way it appears changes depending on the viewer’s state of mind and emotions, and the same impression is never formed twice. What these artists seek to capture, one might say, is precisely such unrepeatable moments. ■Opening Reception Date : Saturday, July 4, 2026 16:00 – 19:00 (No reservation required) Venue : Tokyo International Gallery 【Hours】10:00-19:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays and Holidays (Tuesdays by appointment only) |

Hod has presented his work at institutions such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Israel) and the Sara Hildén Art Museum (Finland), as well as at major galleries across Europe and the United States. His work has also been featured at international art fairs including Art Basel, earning him high acclaim and a strong following from both critics and collectors, and establishing him as a significant figure in contemporary art. Built up on linen or canvas through layers of oil and chrome, and brought into being through the chemical reactions of acid and ammonia poured onto the surface, Hod’s paintings unfold a paradise of flowers in full bloom within a silvery mirror, drawing the viewer’s reflection directly into the picture plane. Taking the genre of landscape painting as their point of departure, they reconstitute the very surface of the painting as a site where light and memory accumulate. ■Opening Reception: July 4 16:00 – 18:00 *Nir Hod will be present. 【Hours】11:30-18:00 【Closed】on Sun, Mon and Public Holidays |

We at ANOMALY are pleased to announce an upcoming solo exhibition by Nobuyoshi Araki titled Araki: Ai no Himaku / Love’s Membrane at our gallery. This exhibition will run from July 21 (Tue.) to August 8 (Sat.). Widely known as “Araki”, Nobuyoshi Araki is a singular phenomenon in the history of Japanese photography. Born in 1940 in Minowa, Tokyo, he studied Photography, Printing and Engineering at Chiba University before joining the advertising agency Dentsu. While gaining experience on the front lines of commercial photography, he gradually turned his gaze toward the private realm that lay at its very opposite. Love’s Membrane, the title of this exhibition, refers to ai, the Japanese word for “love,” which encompasses the diverse concepts proposed by Araki in order to communicate the core of the act of taking photographs. Although this is not widely recognized, Araki repeatedly used the seemingly commonplace word “love” — a word that, at first glance, may appear out of keeping with his unprecedented career. For him, however, love does not simply refer to gentle feelings or beautiful stories. Rather, it means drawing as close as humanly possible to the subject. To photograph, then, is nothing less than to inscribe, in a fleeting moment, what remains between photographer and subject — the last thin membrane that holds the faint stirrings from which words and meaning emerge. This exhibition was conceived as an attempt to retrace the vision that took shape over the course of Araki’s career spanning more than sixty years. 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sun, Mon and Public Holidays |

KOSAKU KANECHIKA is pleased to present “Strata in Gestation,” an exhibition guest-curated by artist Yoshitomo Nara at our Tennoz gallery from June 27 to August 8, 2026. Since the gallery’s inception in 2017, KOSAKU KANECHIKA has featured artwork ranging across a diverse variety of media, not just paintings, and maintained a particular focus on the evocative medium of ceramics. To present the myriad possibilities within the realm of ceramic expression, we have invited Yoshitomo Nara, who himself works with ceramics, to curate this exhibition. In response to this task, Nara has selected four artists whose works he describes as “breathing life into the very atmosphere surrounding them simply by existing in the space.” This exhibition features approximately thirty works by Eiji Uematsu, Takuro Kuwata, Chinoko Sakamoto, and Masaomi Yasunaga. This exhibition presents a collection of works created by artists who utilize ceramics as their starting point while drawing upon their own distinctive physical sensibilities and perceptions of time. While embodying the fundamental elements of the medium, these works transcend the established boundaries of both traditional kogei crafts and contemporary art, offering a multilayered viewing experience. The perspective of guest curator Yoshitomo Nara, who refuses to be confined by refined styles or techniques and focuses instead on the uncontrollable nature of serendipity, resonates deeply with the imaginative forms created by the artists participating in this exhibition. KOSAKU KANECHIKA warmly invites you to this special exhibition guest-curated by Yoshitomo Nara. MAKI Gallery is pleased to present Nearsighted, Canadian artist Keiran Brennan Hinton's second solo exhibition with the gallery. Comprising 28 new paintings, the exhibition marks a profound development in Brennan Hinton's ongoing engagement with observation, domestic space, and the quiet resonance of everyday life. Painted during a long winter in Toronto, the featured works are rooted in the intimate rhythms of the home: a figure knitting beneath the light, a cup of coffee left unfinished, an apple core turning brown on a plate, a half-made sweater resting nearby. In Knitting Beneath the Light, the exhibition’s central image, the domestic act of knitting becomes a quiet counterpart to painting itself—an accumulation of attention, repetition, and time. Brennan Hinton does not seek to record the world with clarity alone, but to convey the experience of looking itself: the way light fades, how forms loosen in darkness, and how presence can be felt through the smallest peripheral details. In doing so, he transforms the seemingly ordinary into something contemplative, intimate, and enduring. 【Hours】11:30–19:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays, and National Holidays |

Joan Punyet Miró, grandson of the renowned twentieth-century artist Joan Miró, is an artist, art historian, poet, and president of Successió Miró. Widely recognized as a spiritual heir to his grandfather’s legacy, Joan Punyet Miró has nevertheless developed a distinct artistic language of his own. Working across painting, ceramics, sculpture, eco-mobiles, and installation, he explores themes of environmental awareness, human memory, and coexistence with nature, posing poetic questions to contemporary society. The exhibition title, SILENCE, refers to a quiet space for listening—to nature, memory, and the inner voice of the self—amid the accelerating pace of information and consumption that defines contemporary life. Centered on works from the Monocromías series, the exhibition also includes sculptures made from natural materials, texts, and installations that create a space where nature and humanity, memory and future, intersect. Joan Punyet Miró’s works offer more than a visual experience; they invite us to reconsider our relationship with the natural world and reconnect with fundamental sensations of being alive. We warmly invite you to experience this exhibition. 【Hours】11:30 - 18:30 【Closed】On Mon and Tuesdays |

Opening on Saturday, 4 July 2026, the exhibition offers new perspectives on the systems, structures, memories, and modes of vision that we accept in our everyday lives without conscious awareness. Youki Hirakawa creates works that read the information held by everyday objects, delving into the histories and political dimensions that emerge from them. The art unit, intext, formed by graphic designers Yusuke Mimasu and Hiroshi Toyama, and programmer Takehisa Mashimo, presents B1 (2026), a new work focusing on the B1 size, 1030 × 728 mm, the de facto standard format for posters. Masayuki Arai creates paintings that begin with photographs collected from the internet, extending the image beyond the frame. Through these three practices, the exhibition subtly shifts the functions and meanings of familiar things, allowing the social dimensions and uncertainties that lie behind them to emerge. By reconsidering the elements that constitute everyday life from different angles, Dear Summer invites viewers to reflect on the relationships between body, society, memory, and vision. ■Opening Reception: July 4 at 5 pm – 7 pm (artists in attendance) 【Hours】12:00 – 18:00 【Closed】on Sun, Mon and National Holidays |

Exploring motifs rooted in his own formative experiences, he is an artist attracting significant attention both in Japan and internationally, including in France and Taiwan. In his current solo exhibition, "MOB," Yokosaka takes traces of daily life and fragments of shared memories as his starting point, reconstructing them as if they were "artifacts excavated from a lost civilization." By creating a space for viewers to unearth either their own personal time or an entire civilization, his expression poses a profound question: how do we navigate the uncertain time that exists "between" the beginning and the end of our lives? In doing so, he invites us into a deep, philosophical exploration. |

We at ANOMALY are pleased to announce an upcoming solo exhibition by Yayoi Deki titled The Sea at our gallery. This exhibition will run from June 10 (Wed.) to July 11 (Sat.). Since her debut, Deki has continued to garner attention as an artist even while working at a slow pace that befits her and has something in common with the sea. She has gained enthusiastic support inside and outside Japan, and her works have found their way into the collections of institutions such as the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa; Mori Art Museum; and Takamatsu Art Museum. As this indicates, she is solidifying her reputation. Somewhat distanced from such a political context, this exhibition will show Deki’s works from the series taking the sea as their theme that have been shown at the Sado Island Galaxy Art Festival since 2018, along with some newly produced works. Besides the many-colored faces of people, the paintings contain animalistic motifs reminiscent of pandas, and signs of the girlish and dream-like quality running through Deki’s art. The sea motif is at once a boundary and a drifting, and holds an important meaning in her work as a place where memories accumulate. This solo exhibition by Yayoi Deki will be her first one in Japan after a long interval, and a fitting one for early summer. YUKIKOMIZUTANI is pleased to present “Forms of Lives”, a solo exhibition by Tomohiro Inaba, on view from Friday, June 12 through Saturday, July 11, 2026. Inaba has consistently explored a distinctive sculptural practice that incorporates “voids” within delicate wire structures, evoking the viewer’s imagination through absence and space. Marking his third solo exhibition with the gallery, Forms of Lives reconsiders this “void” more concretely as a manifestation of life itself, presenting new works that visualize the cycles of life and the traces of memory. This realization has led him to recognize his sculptures as “visualized forms of life.” Centered on this renewed artistic philosophy, Forms of Lives presents recent works that embody the circulation of life and the traces of memory. By transforming the gallery into a space suggestive of an eternal and vast cycle of existence, the exhibition invites viewers to overlay their own memories and experiences onto the works, encouraging quiet and contemplative encounters with their own lives and sense of being. ■Reception Party | 2026.6.12[Fri] 5pm-7pm 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays and Public Holidays |

MAKI Gallery is pleased to present Welcome to The Country, a solo exhibition by Japanese artist Tomohito Ushiro. After spending many years at the forefront of digital media as an art director, Ushiro has, since his first exhibition Pointed in 2022, consistently developed a distinctive visual language. Based on the concept of “the transformation of images through the straightening of organic curves by reducing the number of points,” his work navigates the space between figuration and abstraction. The exhibition title originates from the artist’s ongoing inquiry into the notion of “the country.” Is it something external, defined by systems and borders, or an internal construct shaped by perception and belief? In this context, Ushiro reflects on “Marlboro Country,” a fictional nation created through advertising in the 1960s, which profoundly influenced him during his formative years. While it once functioned as a powerful symbol of aspiration and identity, its eventual decline exposed the instability of the values it embodied, prompting the artist to question the very nature of belief. Ushiro's work traverses the boundaries between figuration and abstraction, reality and fiction, interiority and external structure. It quietly interrogates the uncertainty of what we perceive as truth and the foundations of what we choose to believe, inviting viewers to reconsider their own modes of perception. 【Hours】11:30-19:00 【Closed】on Sun, Mon and Public Holidays |

STANDING PINE is pleased to present a group exhibition featuring works by Lee Ufan, Claude Viallat and Gianfranco Zappettini, opening on Saturday, 23 May 2026. From the 1960s through the 1970s, avant-garde art entered a period of profound transformation, as diverse artistic movements gained momentum across different regions. Within this context, from the 1960s onwards, a tendency emerged to look beyond the artwork understood solely as a completed image or form, and instead to focus on the very elements that constitute it: material, support, surface, gesture, perception and space. Taking as their point of departure the critical awareness that emerged during this period, the three artists presented in this exhibition — Lee Ufan, Claude Viallat and Gianfranco Zappettini — each engaged with this line of inquiry through their own distinctive methods, developing singular conceptions of the artwork and modes of expression within distinct cultural and geographical contexts. In this exhibition, works by three artists of the same generation — who, while active in different contexts, each developed a distinctive practice rooted in a shared field of inquiry — come together within a single space. We warmly invite you to experience the quiet resonances and subtle differences that unfold between them. Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1944, Susumu Koshimizu is recognized as a central figure of Mono-ha, a significant movement in postwar Japanese art. Since the late 1960s, he has explored the relationship between “things” and space through the use of materials such as wood, stone, and paper, employing minimal intervention. This exhibition presents a series of cover drawings and accompanying texts created by Koshimizu for Ehime Magazine, a monthly magazine published by Ehime Shimbun beginning in 1988. These works have previously appeared only in print, making this a rare opportunity to view the original drawings. Through the combination of drawing and language, this series offers a renewed perspective on Koshimizu’s practice. X ING (Crossing): to intersect, to cross, and a state in which gazes, bodies, and information continuously intersect within the city. Yoichiro Masuda is a painter whose work focuses on urban intersections and crosswalks. Using urban spaces where people, gazes, information, and desire intersect as motifs, he depicts contemporary landscapes in which order and chaos, beauty and unease contend with one another. Through fragmented motifs and repetitive lines, he reconstructs as paintings the psychology and structures that appear on the surface of the city. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 【Closed】on Mondays |

Tokyo International Gallery (Shinagawa–Tennoz, Tokyo) is pleased to announce, “And Still, I Call it Love”, a solo exhibition by Ayaka Shirota, on view from Saturday, March 7 to Saturday, April 18, 2026. Shirota’s artistic practice centers on the inner world of emotions and memory. Drawing from emotional fluctuations, moments of vulnerability, and experiences of trauma encountered in everyday life, Shirota creates vividly colored psychological landscapes that feel bright yet subtly unsettling. Scattered throughout these scenes are figures rendered in charcoal, appearing as soul-like or conceptual presences without physical substance. For the artist, depicting experiences that include negative emotions is an act of sublimation. Alongside the act of drawing itself, this process of sublimation forms the core of Shirota’s practice. From this perspective, the exhibition’s theme of “Love” does not emerge abruptly. Rather, it can be read as an affirmation articulated in the present tense—one that has been reached beyond experiences imbued with negativity. In this exhibition, alongside works created on the rectangular canvases the artist has consistently used, Shirota presents new works on roll canvas and plasterboard, marking a significant new direction in their practice. Through a body of work that approaches “Love” via a diverse range of materials and methods, the exhibition offers a space in which viewers are invited to rediscover the forms of love that surround them and to engage in an intimate, internal dialogue. 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】Sundays, Mondays and Holidays (Tuesdays by appointment only) |

We at ANOMALY are pleased to announce that we will be holding a rush screening of recent video works by Muneteru Ujino. Titled SWEET HOME C, the works will be screened for only six days, from the 11th (Sat.) to the 18th (Sat.) of April 2026. Ujino assembles “sound sculptures” made with objects such as mass-produced home electrical appliances, electric guitars, and motorized tools, and displays them in the form of installations and video works. In recent years, he has been producing works that take stories from his life and those of his family as their motifs, and present fragments of memories from personal doings as well as everyday materials and events. Through these elements, the works examine Japan’s modernization, the ensuing switch to the post-modern model of production and consumption in massive quantities, and the influence of globalization. Against the background of the modern period with its ceaseless series of wars, this screening also introduces a whole series of videos based on the memories of Ujino’s mother, who was born in Manchuria and faced the end of the war there. ■Talk event: 4.11 (Sat) 16:30 – 18:00 ・Speaker: Muneteru Ujino, Tomohito Wakui (Artist, musician) ■Opening reception: 4.11 (Sat) 18:00 – 19:00 【開廊時間】12:00-18:00 【休廊日】on Sundays, Mondays, and holidays |

Claude Debussy, the composer renowned for Clair de Lune, and Claude Monet, celebrated for his Water Lilies, influenced one another and created several works inspired by their artistic exchange. Music and painting, two forms that resemble each other yet are fundamentally different, have long fascinated me in the way they interact. This time, inspired by that dialogue, I chose to work within fiction and painting, these two fields I am relatively comfortable with, creating both myself and bringing them together as a single body of work. Writing and painting are entirely different mediums, yet while composing a short story, I was once again struck by how much they share in common. For this exhibition, I plan to present the largest work I have ever created in Japan. I would be very happy if you could come and see it. Though the writing may be modest, the short story will also be exhibited as part of the presentation. I hope you will take a moment to read it as well. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 【Closed】Monday |

This exhibition focuses on Embrace, one of Hosoe’s representative series, produced from the late 1960s to around 1970. Through the physical contact and intertwining of bodies, these photographs capture moments in which vital impulse and existential tension converge, and the boundaries between bodies dissolve. Hosoe’s long-standing exploration of the body transcends mere figuration; through the vivid contrasts and sculptural forms of gelatin silver prints, he articulates a coexistence of eros and unease generated by bodily proximity. The exhibition presents 27 vintage prints, offering a compelling aesthetic vision that visualizes the relationships between body and body, existence and existence, through the medium of photography. Visitors are invited to encounter the profound inquiry into corporeal expression and the photographic medium that lies at the core of Hosoe’s work. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 【Closed】Sundays & Mondays *From this exhibition onward, the gallery has relocated to the 2nd floor of the same building. |

KOTARO NUKAGA Tennoz is pleased to present Keita Morimoto’s solo exhibition ‘what we told ourselves‘ from January 17 to March 7, 2026. Keita Morimoto has continuously referenced baroque paintings and early 20th-century American realism in his work, depicting artificial sources of illumination, such as streetlights, neon signs, and the glow from a vending machine in dramatic chiaroscuro. His juxtaposition of light and shadow pins down the ephemeral narratives hidden within everyday landscapes of the contemporary city. After two and a half years since his previous solo exhibition at KOTARO NUKAGA, ‘A Little Closer’—in which the artist captured a more intimate atmosphere by tightening the distance between himself and his subjects—Morimoto’s gaze once again turns to the street corners of the city, transforming seemingly unremarkable locations into sites where the complexities of contemporary society intersect. MAKI Gallery is pleased to present Shichijūni kō unsō (Seventy-Two Microseasons: Cloud Aspects), New York-based artist Miya Ando’s third solo show at Tennoz, Tokyo. The exhibition features seventy-two of Ando’s signature cloud paintings structured according to shichijūni kō (七十二候), a traditional East Asian calendar system that divides the year into seventy-two microseasons. Every microseason spans approximately five to six days and is marked by a small, observable change in the natural world. Although the system is designed to organize time into fixed intervals, it is ultimately understood through the accumulation of subtle transitions. The term unsō (雲相) in the exhibition title combines un (雲), meaning cloud, and sō (相), denoting aspect, phase, or condition within classical observational vocabularies. Unsō directs our focus to how clouds present themselves at a given moment, shaped by atmosphere and duration. Shichijūni kō unsō renders the seventy-two microseasons visible through chromatic sequence and subtle shifts in the natural world, articulating time as a continuous process perceived with sustained attention to gradual variation. 【Hours】11:30-19:00 【Closed】on Sundays and Mondays |

gallery UG Tennoz is pleased to present a new solo exhibition by UG-exclusive artist Keitoku TOIZUMI, titled “WONDERLAND – The Light, Shadow and Subtle Lies,” on view from Friday, February 6 through Saturday, February 28, 2026. Based on the perspectives and techniques developed through his previous works, TOIZUMI presents a refined exploration of light and shadow in this exhibition. Embedded within these spaces are subtle lies that challenge conventional perception. Keitoku TOIZUMI has been working exclusively with gallery UG since 2020. Through a wide range of presentations, including solo exhibitions, art fairs, and group exhibitions, he has continued to develop a distinct visual language grounded in his unique worldview. In 2025, gallery UG presented a solo exhibition by Keitoku TOIZUMI at ART FAIR TOKYO; in the same year, TOIZUMI also participated in a group exhibition in New Mexico, USA, marking a further expansion of his practice both domestically and internationally. The new works in this exhibition are constructed on a foundation of realism, with compositions and color schemes precisely structured. By introducing a calculated sense of unfamiliarity, TOIZUMI creates pictorial spaces that engage the viewer on a psychological and perceptual level. Visitors are invited to experience TOIZUMI’s latest body of work at Gallery UG Tennoz. 【Hours】11:30-18:30 【Closed】Sundays, Mondays |

YUKIKOMIZUTANI is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Julie Hayashi, Sawari : Before It Appears, Gathering a Touch, on view from Saturday, February 7 through Saturday, February 28, 2026. Julie Hayashi’s practice has long centered on themes of “that which emerges of its own accord” and “that which is in flux.” Beginning with her research into the “nijimi (blurring)” and “tarashikomi (dripping)” techniques found in Edo-period Rinpa painting, Hayashi has developed a deep interest in the philosophy of “jinen” —a concept of nature as self-arising. Her work navigates the space between the artist’s intentional act of painting and the phenomena that materials themselves generate, engaging in a quiet dialogue with nature. This exhibition marks Hayashi’s first solo presentation at YUKIKOMIZUTANI. While continuing the conceptual foundation of her ongoing Sawari series—rooted in the Rinpa notion of “that which becomes naturally,” or a sensibility of entrusting oneself to natural processes—the exhibition also reflects on bunjin culture, which flourished from the late Edo through the Meiji period. The new works presented here are informed by Hayashi’s experiences of travel and observation. The term “sawari” originates from shamisen music, referring both to a noise component and to the essential point or resonance that defines a sound or phenomenon. As Hayashi travels to different regions, she perceives the atmospheres and sonic traces that arise within her as “sawari”, translating them into paintings as if notating a musical score. We invite viewers to experience this new series at the gallery. 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays and National Holidays |

His practice is an ongoing exploration of the intersections between sculpture, architecture, and urban culture. The foundation of his signature curved forms is deeply rooted in his personal history with skateboarding and street culture. By fusing traditional bentwood techniques with the fluid, organic structures found within modern public spaces, Saito has developed a unique visual language known as “flow-chitecture.” His work serves as a meditative practice to decode the complexities of the contemporary city and peacefully reweave its fragmented narratives. ■Special discussion: Saturday, February 14, 2026, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM Yuya Saito (Contemporary Artist) × Guest: Yoshifusa Ichii (Professor, College of Social Sciences, Ritsumeikan University) Capacity: Approximately 30 people (Seating is limited) Participation Fee: Free Venue: MU GALLERY 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】Open daily |

Tokyo International Gallery (Shinagawa–Tennoz, Tokyo) is pleased to announce Hanging Windows, a solo exhibition by Okaji Killi, on view from Saturday, January 17 to Saturday, February 21, 2026. Killi’s practice centers on urban landscapes seen through windows. The scenery observed through glass is reflected, fragmented, and transformed by the material’s inherent properties, eventually emerging as an entirely new vista. Rendered using traditional Nihonga techniques, his windows possess the subdued chromatic tones and planar quality of mineral pigments, allowing them to subtly assimilate into their surrounding space. Killi also explores the intimate relationship between painting and the private realm of the room. Through the act of “hanging” a work, a new spatial dimension unfolds within the living environment. We invite you to experience at the gallery the ambiguous, window-framed worlds that Killi evokes in this exhibition. ■Opening Reception : Saturday, January 17, 2026, 17:00–20:00 Venue : Tokyo International Gallery 【Hours】12:00 – 18:00 【Closed】Sundays and Mondays (Tuesdays by appointment only) |

STANDING PINE Tokyo is pleased to present “The Forest Beyond, Under My Feet — place / wire”, a solo exhibition by Takayuki Suzuki, opening Saturday, 17 January 2026. Based in Japan’s mountainous regions, Takayuki Suzuki quietly explores the connections from place to place, and thing to thing, while observing the subtle shifts in nature that lie hidden within the everyday landscape. The unseen contours of forests and mountains; the rain droplets before our eyes; the flow of water that leads, inevitably, to landscapes beyond our immediate reach. In this exhibition, Suzuki reflects on relationships that extend beyond perception. Taking as his premise that seeing is not all-powerful, he invites us to imagine what lies far from the scene before us, and to reconsider the act of “looking” itself as an expanded mode of attention. How does an everyday gaze, so casually cast, recompose fragments of the world, revealing traces of connection that might otherwise remain unseen? Suzuki’s question begins under our feet as we stand before his works. In collaboration with: Gallery HAM 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays, and national holidays |

Kristin Baucom is an artist who redefines the possibilities of natural dye through a contemporary lens. Drawing inspiration from traditional dyeing techniques, she integrates sustainability into every stage of her creative process. PALI presents a body of work shaped by plants the artist gathered along the Pali Highway in Nuʻuanu Valley. These plants form both the environment in which she lives and the materials used in her work. In Hawaiian, pali means “cliff,” referring both to the land itself and symbolizing the sensation of standing at the edge of a decision. Opening at the beginning of the new year, the exhibition reflects the inner tension between the desire to step toward a better self and to grow, and the pull of familiar habits that draw us back. PALI emphasizes this taut relationship, seeking to clearly reveal the space that exists between what we currently hold dear and where we are headed next. The exhibition features Prismatic, a four-panel suspended textile sculpture inspired by the four cardinal directions; a playful series of handmade bamboo lamps; and hand-pulled works created from plant-based materials. 【Hours】12:00-19:00 【Closed】Monday |

Born in Shiga Prefecture in 1998, Rei Kizumoto completed her MA in Oil Painting, Kyoto University of the Arts in 2023. She is currently based in the Kansai region. Her practice involves cutting felt—a material strongly tied to her childhood memories—into random shapes, tossing them, and creating paintings based on the resulting layout. She is not offering a completed narrative. Rather, through a “poetics of delay,” she composes “things that are just there” on the threshold of “comprehension” allowing them to resonate as worldly possibilities. The yet-unheard sounds and the words left behind, gathered upon the canvas, overlap the momentary with the eternal on a single horizon, weaving together multiple worlds in this quiet space. YUKIKOMIZUTANI is pleased to present Akira Kugimachi: “Absentia – Timeless Landscape”, on view from Saturday, December 13, 2025 to Saturday, January 17, 2026. Working from his studio in Paris, France, Kugimachi has consistently explored the theme of “landscape,” pursuing a painterly expression that contemplates the relationship between human beings and the world. His process begins by layering multiple coats of sumi ink onto a pitch-black surface, over which he repeatedly applies thin washes of gofun pigment dissolved in nikawa glue. This act resembles light emerging gradually from the void. He further interprets the wrinkles formed by momigami (kneaded paper)—sometimes as an abstract expanse of space, at other times as textures reminiscent of ancient cave walls. What appears is a vision of uninhabited landscapes: desolate snow-clad mountains, sheer cliffs, clouds and mist drifting across silent terrains—scenes that transcend any sense of predetermined harmony. Perhaps it is only by contemplating the legacy of “absence” that we can reflect on where we are heading. Kugimachi’s first solo exhibition at YUKIKOMIZUTANI will be presented as a retrospective, tracing his creative trajectory from early representative works to his most recent paintings. ■talk event: December 13, 3 pm –4 pm. *For details such as how to apply, please check the gallery's website. 【Hours】12:00-18:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays, and Holidays |

In Jini's work, "écriture féminine" and "a mode of perception independent of the visual" are practically intertwined. The "body" functions both as subject and medium, giving rise to expressions that counter the visual-centric paradigm upon which traditional pictorial language has relied. Through Jini's work, we can become acutely aware of how the "body" has been gazed upon and depicted under the structure of the gaze that frames and normalizes conventional gender and sexuality. Simultaneously, we encounter the potential for a new artistic language born from liberation from such structures. In recent years, through the interplay of theoretical research and production, Jini has presented expressions resisting mainstream visual systems and binary oppositional language structures with increasing clarity. This gallery emphasizes sharing social concerns and contemporary contexts through art, valuing imagination that transcends national and cultural boundaries. Jini's creative practice continuously engages with universal, transboundary themes like the body, gender, and sexuality, developing a tactile, intimate sensory language independent of existing norms-a practice that deeply resonates with our gallery's context. This exhibition introduces the connections Jini has forged between "performance and painting," "subject and medium," and "artistic expression and sexuality," along with the spiritual core of her practice. ■Performance A performance event featuring artist Jini and performers JuJu and Lars will also take place on Saturday, December 13, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. 【Hours】 12:00-19:00 【Closed】Mondays |

We are pleased to announce that from Friday, December 5 to Saturday, December 20, 2025, gallery UG Tennoz will host a solo exhibition by Kenichi OBANA. Mysterious masked men They are villains rather than heroes, being bit players who don't greatly affect the main story. Although they can't become heroes, they are steadily spending their daily lives, smiling gently with friends, crying in unbearable emotion, and sometimes getting angry at trivial matters. They might be living with their own small happiness and sense of fulfillment, the story of which should be never mentioned. Their ways of lives, that look clumsy and too honest, are brimfully attractive, although they don't have such brilliant presence as appearing in the front stage, . Their destinations will never be places filled with stereotyped despair. They believe that a bright morning shall come some day after each one survives its daily struggles. Daybreak must come some time, however thick the darkness may be. I set a ray of light upon their above-mentioned ways of lives, and make their hidden sorrow and stories represented by my works of paintings and wooden sculptures For this exhibition titled「Stop for a moment」it includes not only my new pieces of art but also pieces previously shown in the past. Although I felt hesitant about presenting these pieces of art again, seeing the gallery’s spacious, pure white environment somehow lifted that hesitation and made me feel at ease. In this exhibition, I aim to overlook my art from the past few years, while also exploring how they appear when displayed in a space deliberately disconnected from any specific land or history. I hope this exhibition will serve as a brief pause in my practice, allowing for a moment of reflection and paving the way for new developments. It will be his first solo exhibition in a full nine years, since “R E M (Rapid Eye Movement)“. “Compactification”, the theme this time, derives from the concept of topology. A compact topological space can be understood as a structure in which solution sets satisfy certain desirable properties. Nishio explains that this can occur in two ways: either S covers X and exists as a balloon-like closed continuum, or the elements of S are all open sets forming an urn-like structure as an open covering. As for material, the artist replaces such abstract concepts with vinyl, a familiar substance and thin membrane that also plays a leading role in approaches to environmental problems, and uses it for concrete plastic expression. ■Opening reception:11.22 (Sat) 17:30 – 19:00 ■Talk session: 11.22 (Sat) 16:00 – 17:30 *Japanese only Speakers: Yasuyuki Nishio, Naoya Hirata (Artist) 【Hours】12:00 – 18:00 【Closed】on Sundays, Mondays, and Holidays |

Surface Tension and Drying Shrinkage of Acrylic Paints. It creates bubble-like circles on the canvas. Acrylic paint is applied to the canvas, and as it dries over time from the outer edges inward, bubbles form through the effects of flowing water or wiping. The characteristic of the drawing is that it can create a sense of three-dimensionality. This allows the expression to change dramatically depending on how light hits it, creating a wide range of forms regardless of whether they are abstract or concrete. My current location is “here and now.” The future that lies ahead is yet unseen. But still, We try to know—. Through “Bubble Art,” we hope you will experience a glimpse of this world in this exhibition. 【Hours】12:00 - 18:00 【Closed】Sundays and Mondays |
